Paul Hambleton – Profile

Paul has managed teams in the New Zealand Highway Transportation and Treasury Departments, acted as a team leader for World Bank Projects in Indonesia and India and has managed teams in the Oil and Gas industry.

He is a networker and has facilitated change both for businesses and individuals. He has some 25 years experience in management and is passionate about bringing what has worked in Sweden, such as Road Safety systems to New Zealand and other countries as well as the reverse, matching form to function, getting the right things done, better than before. Reducing such unncessary road deaths and serious injuries mainly by simple infrastructure interventions.

He has been the International guest lecturer at the University of Birmingham, World Bank and IRF sponsored Senior Executive Courses in UK on Asset Management and introduced Highway Safety Systems and has provided keynote addresses at Safety Conferences in New Zealand.

A degree in Civil Engineering was supplemented by executive programmes in financial management, marketing and a Masters in Transportation Engineering and project management from the University of California in Berkeley, earning the (IRF) International Road Federation’s outstanding achievement award.

Innovative organisation and marketing are common themes in his careers, which have included transportation engineering, management consulting, project management, supply chain management and executive leadership coaching.

Executive coaching work followed a post graduate diploma in Psychosynthesis, from University of East London as well as training with the developer of a focused programme for business leaders called Inspired Leadership (USA psychologist and coach Late Dr. John Franklin) and bringing this to Europe. Paul has coached executives who needed a sounding board, sought resolution or wanted to expand their horizons.

Paul has facilitated strategic, financial and business planning and organised conferences as an internal management consultant working with The Treasury in New Zealand. He has also facilitating Road Network Safety strategies.

As a project manager on World Bank financed transportation projects, he led teams to improve the quality of Highway Construction in Indonesia and provided Institutional Strengthening to Reform a State Transportation Department in India. He also managed and coordinated construction, purchasing and logistics for major oil exploration projects in Indonesia and Cambodia for some 14 years.
